Are Your Clients in Compliance?
IBN is currently offering an exclusive service to our valued brokers. Between June 1 and August 30, your client can have their Employee Handbook reviewed by our HR partners, red and associates for just $500. Plus, if they choose to have their handbook rewritten by the HR professionals at red and associates, they will receive 30% off their fees.
It is recommended that any company with existing policies review and update their employee handbooks at least once a year. With new laws, new technology, and various changes in conducting business - when was the last time your clients’ employee handbooks were reviewed?
Federal and State laws change rapidly. An employee handbook informs employees about the limits of supervisory authority, which can help limit the liability of a company where a supervisor may engage in misconduct which could expose a company to lawsuits.
In today's litigation-prone society, an employee handbook can help to prove that rules have been explained to workers, and can also assist in litigation with unhappy customers, injured visitors, or a company's own employees.
In addition, employee handbooks communicate important company policies and procedures about issues such as harassment, discrimination, payroll practices, and other personnel issues. If your client is covered by FMLA, the employee handbook is a good place to include notices of FMLA rights.
Most employees want to know what the rules are and will follow them. Having a standard reference to explain these rules are a fundamental and important practice, yet many companies don't always pay the necessary attention needed to effectively maintain them. This simple, common practice is often overlooked and can prove to be seriously detrimental to any business.

Upgrades and Updates
Instant Enroll -Effective
Friday, May 16th - for certain applications that require electronic signature employees will be required to actually view the application in addition to checking the signature box before they will be allowed to complete their enrollment.Once all have been viewed and the electronic signature check marks have been clicked, the system will verify that the process is complete. This change will further satisfy carrier requirements for electronically signed applications.
Employees will see very little difference, although an additional warning will appear above the electronic signature forms stating that they are now required to view the forms. An error will be displayed if applications have not been viewed and the employee will remain on the page until they complete the required process.
Effective
Monday, June 2nd - all selected coverage will now be tied to the specific carrier chosen in the carrier section. The update will require you to first select the carrier, and then you will be prompted to select the coverage(s) that is applicable for that carrier.
No changes or updates to your employers are necessary, however the appearance of the coverage and carrier selection will be different. Example: If you have selected Medical, Dental, and Vision as coverage for the employer and you have chosen Aetna and Blue Cross, the Blue Cross form will have the lines of coverage applicable to that carrier form checked (let’s say they have all three Medical, Dental, and Vision). The Aetna form will have Medical and Dental checked, but not Vision since this carrier does not offer Vision coverage.
This change is going to allow IBN to only ask carrier specific questions that are applicable for the application and for the coverage selected for that employer.
